Dear Mr. Munoz
Hi Mr. Munoz. My name is Sam Hyer.  I'm the 2nd grade class soldier who is deployed in Iraq. Please give this email to the 2nd grade class for me.

Hello my 2nd grade friends from half-way around the world.  Sorry I have not talked to you guys in a while.  Things get very busy when you first get over here & try to get settled in.  From now on ill try & write you guys once a week. Its not a promise but ill try hard to.  I just wanted to say thank you so much for the care packages you have sent me.  It was great to hear from you all. I was very surprised when I received them.  Your gifts were awesome & brighten up my day. My fellow soldiers also say thanks because I shared some of my gifts with them. The letters were very cool. I read every single one of them. They made me laugh & smile.  Thank you all so much for the support & love you have given me.  God has truly blessed me with this very bright, outgoing & optimistic 2nd grade class to watch over me.

I am doing fine over here.  I miss my family, my friends (yes that includes you...my 2nd grade buddies), the weather, etc.  Pretty much home in general.  The weather in Iraq is not to bad. It does get real cold sometime...even during the day but that's just during the winter season. I'm sure it will get real hot here in the summer.  The temp. get as high as 140 degrees here.  It's okay thought because I drink about 8 bottles of water a day to keep me hydrated & to keep going throughout the day. Being here in Iraq is a real eye opener.  One animal that I am now use to seeing all the time is a camel.  I was shocked when I saw one for the first time.  They are huge! About the twice the size of a horse. Even though they're big & weird looking, they are very kind.  Just make sure you don't feed them sweetened food though....they will run after you.  The culture & life style here is very diff.  Some people here are not wealthy as us but they try to make a good honest living with their families as farmers, merchants & traders.   We should all be very thankful for the life God has granted us. I know I have.  Well "My 2nd Grade Guardians"...that's what I'm going to call you guys from now on....I'm must get going.  Once again thank you all so much for your gifts. I will be home soon to visit guys again.  I wont tell you when though. It will be a surprise. Work hard in school & stay safe. Ill keep your prayers with me.  Talk to you all soon. Your soldier across the world,

                                                                                                     Sam

Hello My 2nd Grade Friends,

Just wanted to write you guys real quick to say hi & see how all of you were doing.  I'm doing just fine over here in Iraq.  Things are going smoothly & time seems to be going by pretty fast so that make me happy.  I received a couple more of your packages & you guys continue to blow me away with how much support & love you all have shown me.  Thank you all so much. An extra thank you to Emily & Lancelot. The DVD Player & Dart Board were very generous gifts. I appreciate all you have done for me.  So as token of my appreciation I have sent you, My 2nd Grade Guardians, a gift.  I had some work done to it (20 Jan 08) but it will be there shortly. Ill send it as soon as I can. I hope you all like it.    Well I must get going but you will hear from me soon.  Take care & god bless.
